The Sword of Truth
The sword of truth glistened in his hands
Like a lighthouse shining brightly in a storm

Thirsty to cut through the layers of lies and deceit
That could no longer remain hidden out of sight

The time of reckoning that many had feared
Was now all too perilously close at hand

Sides had to be chosen; a line drawn in the sand
Walk on the path of righteousness; or onto barren land

All that glitters is not gold, fame fleeting and disloyal
True riches lie within; and to the victor go the spoils

Temptation is an ugly beast; she eats your flesh
Each time you stray

But strength of spirit and inner knowing
Is freely given to all that pray

Stand before the sword of truth
Let it see inside your heart

Let it decide if your soul's worth saving
Or should it be judged - cut apart

None are perfect or expected
Saints and sinners stray alike

But have you tried as best you can
To live not in darkness; but in light?

The sword of truth an Angel wields
The time of judgment close at hand

Look inside and then this question
Answer truthfully I command

Is your soul a soul worth saving?

If it is all well and good

If it's not;
Then heed this warning I now speak

"Time is short and very fleeting
Lies and deceit on record stay
So if you chose the path of shadows
Expect to find me in your way"

I once showed mercy and compassion
So none changed or even tried

Self pity and excuses are all that's offered
From the likes of those who've often lied

So none now is ever offered
Yet words of caution still I give

It's up to you to heed my warning
And think about how you choose to live
