It's all too easy in life to think: "Why me?" More so when terrible things happen to us that draw us further and further away from the light. The light, after all, is a beacon that is meant to see us safely through the most difficult and trying of times, not something that is meant to be taken away from us so that we can no longer tell if we are actually moving in the right direction or not.
The light is meant to be similar to a bright lighthouse in a stormy sea. Without it; we could all too easily be thrown head first against the rocks and left to die alone. Or at least that's how some people like to think of it. But I'd rather you tried to think of the light as being more like the sun. At times it rises and at others it sets to give mother moon a chance to shine. Yet it never, ever totally disappears. It is still there as potent and as powerful as it ever was.
What is more, even when the sun is covered by clouds or followed by rain and other weather woes, it remains unchanged. For its true strength dwells deep within. It simply allows these temporary misfortunes to pass merely by breathing in the moment, for pass they always do. For in actuality nothing can truly diminish the Spirit of the Sun; just as nothing can diminish our own personal power unless we ourselves allow that to happen. True, it might hide out of sight for a time, but never for long. For the beauty of the sun is meant to shine; just as we are.
How do we go about reclaiming our own personal power then? Simply by getting back up each time we're knocked down. For the reality is that life will indeed knock us down from time to time. There's no point wishing it wouldn't, it's just the way it is. So next time you ask yourself "Why me?" try asking at the same time "Why not?"
Personally, I believe that seemingly bad things happen to good people as a way of God testing our Spirit whilst assisting us to grow and evolve as Spiritual beings. Remember though, we always have the choice of giving up or getting up. But only the latter choice contains within it the power to fortify the mind and strengthen the spirit.
Can it really be as simple as making a single choice? Yet is can - and is! For when we change the way we look at things; the things we look at change. What is also worth being mindful of is that we often learn something of great value from struggles, challenges and trials and tribulations. More so when they pop up when we least expect (or need) them.
It's okay to initially get down or despondent when shit things happen to us, but not to the point were they start dragging us down like a lead weight. Instead overcome them; learn from them and even be grateful to them. For in so doing; you will be able to make better decisions in the future. Never, ever lose sight of the fact that to get out of difficulty; we must first make our way through it! We will always reach the other side, but only by having the determination and strength of Spirit to keep on going no matter what!
At the same time we must hang on to joy. To do that we need to be thankful for the things we DO HAVE, our health, our jobs, our families and friends. For by hanging on to joy we remain able to warm the heart and feed the soul. We are never given more than we can carry, even if what we're carrying gets a little too heavy at times. At such times it's okay to rest awhile but never stop. Life is a choice; choose to live it!
I have great faith in you!
